Youth Programs

Our children are our future. Because of this, in addition to our highly praised Early Childood Center and engaging Hebrew School program, we have crafted fun Youth Groups for Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Escape rooms, bowling, movies, pizza parties and ice skating, combined with holiday celebrations and mitzvah projects make for memorable Jewish experiences that give our kids the opportunity to connect to community while having a blast. All children are invited to join Kochavim, our Youth Choir. A love of music is the only requirement for participation in this group! Rehearsals take place approximately once per month on Sundays, immediately following Hebrew School. Social opportunities and camaraderie are plentiful as the choir prepares for several performances throughout the year. Lunch is provided.

Teen Programs

We keep kids busy as they prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah, but once that celebration is over, we welcome them into our iServe Program. iServe focuses on the Jewish concepts of G’milut Hasadim (deeds of loving kindness) and Tikun Olam (actions to repair the world). The goal of iServe is twofold: (1) to educate teens about the needs in their community; and (2) to give them the resources & the opportunity to go out and heal the world. Throughout the year, iServe teens will contemplate, plan and engage in various meaningful, hands-on community service projects that will strengthen their Jewish identity and reinforce their Jewish values. Some highlights include: a challah bake for the food-insecure of Broward County; two beach clean-ups, bingo night with U.S. Veterans; a 6,000 lbs. food challenge for the Harvest Drive; and so much more! Service hours are available for iServe activities. iServe is open to all 8th-12th graders. At the end of 10th grade, iServe students are eligible for Confirmation, a meaningful to way to celebrate our teens commitment to Jewish life. All of our students who continue in our program through High School get to take part in our High School Graduation Service. In addition to iServe, many of our teens remain connected to Ramat Shalom by volunteering as a teacher’s assistant in Hebrew School, working as a counselor in our Early Childhood Summer Camp, reading Torah for the High Holidays or helping out in the synagogue office.

Adult Education

At Ramat Shalom, lifelong learning is an important part of our community. The Rabbi’s weekly Torah Study is a big hit as are his mid-week Adult Education Classes. Visiting scholars, retreats, meditation, Hebrew classes and our Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program are also integral part of Adult Life at Ramat Shalom.

Trips

Whether it be our an family adventure to Israel, a cruise to Cuba, a community service to New Orleans, Ramat Shalom often travels to amazing places where we learn and grow together. Stay tuned for our next trip!

Social Events

Throughout the year, Sisterhood Events, Men’s Night Out, First Friday Shabbat Dinners and other social gatherings give you the opportunity to connect with friends old and new. Check out our calendar for upcoming events and discover a fun event that will let you connect with us!

Community Service

At Ramat Shalom, we believe that each of us has a responsibility to engage in Tikun Olam, healing the world. This is why we partner with various social service agencies that are making a difference in our local community. On a regular basis, Ramat Shalomniks volunteer to feed the hungry, house the homeless, shelter abused animals, clean our beaches and bring smiles to children who have lost everything. Within our community, many are involved in our Mitzvah Committee which makes certain that our families are embraced during the highs and lows of life.
