Executive Director Leslie Goldman draws on her years as a Ramat Shalom congregant and board member, plus her marketing career experience, to fulfill her varied responsibilities at the synagogue. The combination, she says, allows her “to see the full picture, consider all perspectives, and draw on a background that contains several views of synagogue life.”
“Ramat Shalom is like an extension of my family,” she says, “We know one another, we care about one another and we accomplish beautiful things together!”
Leslie, a volunteer at the synagogue for more than 12 years, served on the Board for 10 years, two of them as President. She is a native of New York who grew up in South Florida and began her married life in Miami. She and her husband Chuck moved to Plantation soon after the birth of their twin daughters, then moved on to Weston. Their daughters are now college graduates, having been b’not mitzvah at Ramat Shalom, followed by Leslie, who became an adult bat mitzvah a few years ago.
Leslie has a marketing and communications degree from the University of Miami. Her career had included the positions of copywriter at Jordan Marsh department stores; Advertising and Public Relations Director at the Miami Merchandise Mart and Expo Center; and Admissions and Marketing Coordinator at the University School of Nova Southeastern University. She is happy that her current position allows her to devote her full attention to the synagogue. That “attention” is directed towards running events, creating fliers, managing the property, studying budgets and much more! If you have a question, she’s more than happy to take the time to reply, to get to know you, and to connect you to a project that matches your interests.
